Oregon Trail 10k Run

Blaze the Oregon Trail every year in St. Marys, Kansas!  If you are willing to risk frostbite, disease, and starvation for a t-shirt and a chance to win some fun prizes, this race is for you!

ABOUT

The Oregon Trail 10k Run is a cross between race and town-sized board game.  The race pulls inspiration from the quintessentially classic video game, which pulled inspiration from the The Oregon Trail and the very real dangers that were present on it.  Located on the real Oregon Trail, this race is not only meant to create a fun, educational, and hopefully challenging opportunity for participants – it is also a commemorative nod to the courageous souls who embarked on the journey of a lifetime, leaving behind family, friends, and other comforts in exchange for the Great Unknown.

HOW TO PLAY ‘THE OREGON TRAIL 10k RUN’

  • Gather cards from each “trading post” along the trail and hope that luck deals you a good hand!
  • Beware of pulling a card that lists some misfortune!  Unless you posses a corresponding vaccination card, you will have met your “demise” on the Oregon Trail!
  • “POW!”, “WHAM!”, and “BANG!” mean that you have bagged some game!  Each hunting card will show how many pounds of meat you have landed.  Participant needs to have obtained 200 lbs to prevent dying of starvation on this stretch of the trail!

Even if you don’t qualify for one of the game prizes, you can still complete the run and gain your shirt!  However, instead of boasting that you “Survived the Oregon Trail”, your shirt’s design will show that the Oregon Trail defeated you!
